MTGO Draft: KLD #7

Fresh off my second win for this blog, I couldn't control myself and jumped right into another draft.

  Pack 1 pick 1:

  My Pick:

The Master had some value at the point of the draft and if I can get some token generators then this pick could work out for me. There's nothing amazing in this pack anyway.

  Pack 1 pick 2:

  My Pick:

Solid removal spell and nothing else impresses me.

  Pack 1 pick 3:

  My Pick:

Riparian Tiger and Propeller Pioneer are also options here but I'll go the colourless route and see how the draft unfolds.

  Pack 1 pick 4:

  My Pick:

Lots of options here. Whale, Die Young and Tiger are all very playable as well. I like the Wanderer as I tend to splash a third colour if I have fixing. I can grab a powerful off colour card and be confident that I'm able to cast it in a timely manner. If I knew for sure that I was in green and didn't need fixing then the Tiger would have been the pick.

  Pack 1 pick 5:

  My Pick:

I know this commits me more to red being double red on turn 3. However, there's nothing else in the pack. I can always not run the Scourge but if I end up with red as a main colour then it will help bring the beats.

  Pack 1 pick 6:

  My Pick:

Worth something on the secondary market and I might be splashing white.

  Pack 1 pick 7:

  My Pick:

I probably should have taken the Impeccable Timing if I was deciding to splash white.

  Pack 1 pick 8:

  My Pick:

Cathartic Reunion can help me out of bad draws but maybe the Cobra would have been a better choice.

  Pack 1 pick 9:

  My Pick:

I think that's a late Subtle Strike.

  Pack 1 pick 10:

  My Pick:

The Monitor would have worked better in this deck.

  Pack 1 pick 11:

  My Pick:

  Pack 1 pick 12:

  My Pick:

I should have picked up the Guide. The Rebuff doesn't even make sense.

  Pack 1 pick 13:

  My Pick:

  Pack 1 pick 14:

  My Pick:

  Pack 1 pick 15:

  My Pick:

  Pack 2 pick 1:

  My Pick:

I keep hearing that the Cub is one of the best green cards but I've never had a chance to play with it. Let's see if it lives up to the hype.

  Pack 2 pick 2:

  My Pick:

A second removal spell to go with the Welding Sparks.

  Pack 2 pick 3:

  My Pick:

I can't make Energy consistently but I might be able to grab something later on. I probably should have taken the Furious Reprisal though.

  Pack 2 pick 4:

  My Pick:

A very nice gift! Looks like I'm in the right colour.

  Pack 2 pick 5:

  My Pick:

A bit disappointing after that last pick but the Monitor will do.

  Pack 2 pick 6:

  My Pick:

Another way to use Energy, hopefully I can get Sage of Shaila's Claim.

  Pack 2 pick 7:

  My Pick:

I don't have any vehicles at this point but the Haste ability still makes the pilot a good fit for a beat-down deck.

  Pack 2 pick 8:

  My Pick:

I don't like random effects like this but it was foil so I had to have it.

  Pack 2 pick 9:

  My Pick:

There we go.

  Pack 2 pick 10:

  My Pick:

  Pack 2 pick 11:

  My Pick:

  Pack 2 pick 12:

  My Pick:

  Pack 2 pick 13:

  My Pick:

  Pack 2 pick 14:

  My Pick:

  Pack 2 pick 15:

  My Pick:

  Pack 3 pick 1:

  My Pick:

Harnessed Lightning is premium removal. I know that because it's worth more than 1 tix. Servant of the Conduit and Hunt the Weak are solid picks as well.

  Pack 3 pick 2:

  My Pick:

At least I got 1 Furious Reprisal .

  Pack 3 pick 3:

  My Pick:

I don't have a lot of creatures that can get a counter on them but I'll actively be looking for them now.

  Pack 3 pick 4:

  My Pick:

Another outlet for Energy counters. Prism is good too but I don't think I'll be splashing a third colour. Artisan works with the Judge but it doesn't fit well in an aggressive deck. Wayward Giant was probably the pick here.

  Pack 3 pick 5:

  My Pick:

Sage or Wanderer should have been the pick but I'm greedy and grabbed the rare.

  Pack 3 pick 6:

  My Pick:

The Charger is very powerful if it can get going and I'm okay passing up a Wanderer for it. Take Down is a sideboard card. A good sideboard card but a sideboard card nonetheless.

  Pack 3 pick 7:

  My Pick:

Appetite on the other hand can be run in the main. I think having the diversity is better than taking another Sage.

  Pack 3 pick 8:

  My Pick:

Probably not running it.

  Pack 3 pick 9:

  My Pick:

A great pick on the wheel.

  Pack 3 pick 10:

  My Pick:

  Pack 3 pick 11:

  My Pick:

  Pack 3 pick 12:

  My Pick:

Sweet. Maybe I'm valuing cards too highly as what I want tends to go around the table.

  Pack 3 pick 13:

  My Pick:

Or maybe I'm in the right colours because I'm awesome at the game...? Yeah, let's go with that.

  Pack 3 pick 14:

  My Pick:

  Pack 3 pick 15:

Looks like I've been really slacking on these updates. So much that the replays aren't even available anymore! I'm going to start catching up but for now I can only tell you that I want 0-2 and dropped out. I felt like this deck had potential so it's sad to see it do so poorly. Especially after winning two drafts in a row. So much for that streak.
